With the first two months of the academic year nearly over you probably have some goals of what you want to achieve this academic year. But the big question is how do I achieve this? What do I need to? Here are five tips on how to get the most of this academic year so whether you’re in Year 11 or 13 who need some revision advice, or you just want to make the most of this school year here are some tips:
- Do a little each day : Everyone thinks that because they have so much content to learn they have to do ten hours of constant revision every day which won’t be helpful especially at the beginning of the year because by the end you will just feel burnt out and demotivated , the best way to revise lots of content is to do at least half an hour or an hour each day of a subject of any choice that way your not feeling burnt out or demotivated and you will be able to track your progress as the year progresses .
- Make revision notes early: it may seem like your exams are ages away but by making revision notes early your saving yourself so much time and effort so make sure you make effective notes before exam season that way you don’t have to worry about them during exam time.
- Revise with friends: Revision is hard work and can get stressful especially if your stuck on a topic or subject so by revising with friends who help you not only learn but motivate you to revise makes the process of revision easier and more enjoyable.
- Take a break: It may sound silly but by having something called ‘a chill day’ will help when it comes to revision because by taking at least one rest day a week will not only reduce the stress but also help you feel recharged and more motivated to study. Revision is all about the motivation and determination to do well so by taking a break will make you more relaxed and will not burn you out by exam season.
- Create a vision board/mood board: we all revise to get good grades but why do you need good grades? what motivates you to do this? Is it so you can a specific job/career or is it to get into a good university? But sometimes we may feel demotivated because external and internal factors, by remembering why you want to revise in the first place will you the motivation to revise and you can do this by creating a vision board , you can make a paper vision board which you can keep on your desk or study area , you can also make them online and keep it as your wallpaper on a device you use to revise
