Leigh Centurions bid to continue the winning habit when they travel to Featherstone Rovers for a match which kicks off at 4pm today.
Another win – on the back of Good Friday’s 26-24 victory against Barrow – would keep Leigh top of the Co-Operative Championship table, but it is Rovers that head into the game as favourites by virtue of not having a game for 11 days.
However, Leigh forward Dave Mills is delighted with the way they have started the campaign.
“We are stuck in winning ways and I’m really enjoying it,” he said. “We managed to dig in and grind out a win against Barrow which was the number one objective.”
“This time of year is tough but the club and coaching staff look after you.
“They know it’s a big ask playing two games in four days. They don’t run the legs off you, they just do the teamwork that needs to be covered, look at the other team and make sure you are prepared and freshened up as much as you can be for the next game.”
Today’s match is a clash of two expected favourites and Welsh international Mills is under no illusions.
“Featherstone will have the same attitude as Barrow. We played them at the start of the year and put a few points past them. They had a few injuries then and they are going to come out to show us what they are really made of and we’ve got to be ready for that.”
The Centurions will check on the fitness of Chris Hill and Mick Govin before naming their side with Andy Thornley and Anthony Nicholson set to deputise while youngsters Jon Pownall and new dual contract man Rhys Evans are also available.
