RUGBY LEAGUE: It’s official. Leigh Centurions will play their first-ever game at the new Leigh Sports Village stadium at Christmas.
The Centurions have this week confirmed that the planned pre-season friendly against Salford City Reds on Sunday, December 28 has been given the all-clear.
Tickets for the big game will go on sale from the Leigh Sports Village ticket office from 10am on Tuesday, December 2. Tickets are priced at £12 for adults and £ for concessions.
The game will see the Centurions step on to the pitch of their new home for the first time.
Their new home boasts a host of new facilities including high spec corporate facilities, modern supporters bar, state-of-the-art catering and bar units in the stands and undercover seating or standing for all supporters.
Centurions commercial boss David Bradshaw said: “Supporters will get their first experience of the new stadium on December 28. This includes the corporate facilities such as banqueting and executive boxes which is something very new to us. The take up on these for the friendlies has been immense but there is still availability for anyone who is interested.
“With the move to our new home under way we expect the season ticket sales for 2009 to escalate in the run up to Christmas, with the price drop offer available for adults until December 24.”
Assistant coach Paul Rowley says: “We really can’t wait for December 28. It’s an ideal time for families to continue the festivities at the new stadium and come along and support their local club. It’s perfect for the lads to have a run out as a team and for us to try a few ideas.”
