THE Atherton Tyldesley Sports Association held a tennis taster session take place at Tyldesley Tennis club recently.
The children from several local schools took part in the event which was led by head of PE at Fred Longworth High School and Ellesmere Tennis Clun member Ian Nutter.
He was joined by Sarah Davies (St George's Central School and Ellesmere Tennis club member) and Matthew Crane (Wigan Athletic Community Trust Tennis Coach).
Children from St. George's Central, Sacred Heart, St. Ambrose Barlow, Tyldesley Primary, Holy Family and St. Richard's took part in the session.
They completed a variety of short tennis activities before they progressed onto simple versions of the game.
Tyldesley Tennis club are starting to run some ten week beginners tennis coaching sessions with their coach, Ross Smith, looking to work with primary aged children and their parents.
These are to take place throughout May and June and are being part funded by Wigan Sports Council. For more information about this, please contact Dr John Turner on 0161 790 5212.
