Rochdale 22 Leigh Centurions 72
LEIGH had to come from behind in their latest Kingstone Press Championship encounter Leigh Centurions to run 12 tries past Rochdale.
Early scores by Gareth Langley and Adam Swift put Leigh on the back foot and the Centurions trailed 12-0 before a fight saw Joe Greenwood and Matthew Sarsfield sin-binned.
Leigh responded in best possible fashion, by mounting pressure on the Hornets line before Martyn Ridyard put Sam Barlow over.
Ridyard added the first of five first half goals and Leigh were back in the game.
Ridyard and Barlow's slight of hand brought a score for Gregg McNally and a further pass put Liam Kay in for his 24th try of the season.
Eight minutes from halftime, Leigh struck at a through Sarsfield and a fifth try followed by Sam Hopkins.
Tries in the opening 12 minutes of the half from Tom Armstrong and Cameron Pitman stretched Leigh's advantage.
Ridyard was the orchestrator against creating further scores for Ryan Brierley and McNally.
Rochdale claimed two further tries from Jordan Case and Anthony Walker but Leigh finished superbly with Armstrong's second before Pitman claimed a hat trick and Ridyard maintained his excellent kicking record to make it 12 goals and a 72-22 win.
