LEIGH Centurions created club history with their 15th successive victory at Sheffield Eagles today  to remain the only team with a 100 percent record in the Kingstone Press Championship.

Leigh scored nine tries in total with a brilliant quartet from Liam Kay as they won 54-12.

The Centurions scored after two minutes when Martyn Ridyard, Ryan Brierley and Gregg McNally got the ball left, creating an overlap for Tom Armstrong to find Kay for his first.

Ridyard struck the first of eight goals and Leigh doubled their advantage after seven minutes through Bob Beswick. A dropped ball and a penalty gave a chance to Sheffield and they took it with Lelauloto Tagaloa crashing through for Dominic Brambani to goal.

Leigh scored again after 19 minutes thanks to a brilliant pass from McNally to Kay, before the full-back claimed a try of his own following a chip and chase from Ridyard.

The Leigh stand-off struck the conversion and two penalties in the final 10 minutes of the first half to take Leigh 26-6 clear.

Sheffield had the better of the opening exchanges of the second half before Ryan Brierley picked off a pass from Sheffield full-back Quentin Laulu Togagae to claim his 26th try of an ever-productive season.

The Eagles continued to press but the Centurions held firm and ran riot in the last 20 minutes.

It started when Kay danced around Misi Taulapapa for his hat-trick. Sean Penkywicz was a growing influence and his kick gave the Centurions decent position.

Tommy Goulden fended his way through the line for Ridyard to complete his goal haul, but Leigh weren’t finished.

Great vision by Penkywicz put Kay on the outside for his fourth try. Brierley bringing the half-century up with the conversion.

Leigh still weren’t done as Penkywicz picked his way through the defence for the ninth try.

Sheffield clawed a try back before the end when Michael Knowles kicked through for Misi Taulapapa and Pat Walker goaled, but they were a distant second best.
