WHARTON felt the heat from Ramsbottom Town A, losing 27-4 with all players on maximum points.
Ramsbottom B beat Ladybridge A 20-12 with a nine from new player Ryan Choong who has now been permanently transferred to the Premier Division side after proving too strong for Division One.
Glodwick overpowered Burning Desire 25-10 with nines from Kyan Chin and Majid Tubasum.
Flixton Cricket Club A took advantage of their own B team with a 22-11 win.
These results were fairly comfortable, but there were many close games elsewhere which, although the league is only in its second week, suggest a competitive season could be in store in all divisions.
Hilton A just pipped Nomads 18-17, despite a resisting nine from Charles Musa, and Little Lever Cricket Club A caused Radcliffe Cricket Club to suffer an early defeat as they won 21-16.
Apart from Farnworth SC A, who went down 25-6 to Ramsbottom Town C with a nine from Martin Holt, the rest of Division One’s matches were close encounters.
Little Lever Cricket Club B just beat Heaton Cricket Club A 20-15, Hilton B edged out their own D team 18-14, Ramsbottom Town D outdid Coburg 18-16, two 17-16 wins saw Wingates just beat Meadow Ben A with a nine from John Bradbury, and Hilton C pipped their E team helped by a nine from Steve Hunt.
Division Two’s Meadow Ben B had a comprehensive 23-8 victory over Bolton TTC B with nines from Steven Robertson and Mike Heaton. However, their C team did not fare so well, going down 25-12 to Farnworth SC C helped by nines from Chris Lord and Ben Wyatt.
Farnworth’s B team lost out to Brass Zone 18-16 thanks to a nine from Jim Bolton, Ladybridge B outplayed Top Spinners 25-11 with nines from John Birchall and John Cole, and Polonia Club A had their second victory, overcoming St Paul’s Peel 19-12 despite a resisting nine from Lee Devenport.
In Division Three, Meadow Hill A beat their own B team 25-11 with nine points from Roy Caswell.
Meadow Ben D had success against Farnworth SC D with a nine from Neil Cowburn. Walkden Methodists had their second win of the season against Hilton F, a 21-10 success helped by nines from Carl Bennett and Steve Kelsall.
Irlam Steel SC had their second win of the season against Albany, winning 19-10 with a nine from David Yates.
New team Polonia Club B had their second defeat against Hilton G with Jean Smart producing nine points for Hilton, while Ladybridge C just beat Hilton H 17-15 with a nine from Brian Greenhalgh.
