LOSTOCK duo Mark Shuttleworth and Mark Checkley completed the annual Grizedale Horseshoe fell race on Saturday in good times.
Organised annually by the Achille Ratting Climbing Club, and starting and finishing at Glenridding, the route covers 10 miles with more than 5,000 feet of climbing and visits the high fells of Catstye Cam, Helvellyn, Grizedale Tarn, Dollywagon and St Sunday Crag.
Shuttleworth was first home in 2hrs 59mins 13secs despite having been beaten to the summit of Helvellyn by Checkley, who finished in 3:13:35.
Elsewhere, the Wigan 10k saw Rob Sharkey, Ray Nuttall, Matt Withers and Joanne Parncutt representing Lostock.
Sharkey was the first Lostocker home in 39:38 to finish 71st overall and ninth in his age group.
Nuttall was fourth in his age group in 42:41, with Withers and Parncutt turning in strong times of 52:46 and 1:03:45 respectively.
For Withers and Parncutt, it was their second race of the weekend having run the Haigh Hall parkrun the previous day. Parncutt posted a personal best time of 30:52, while Withers finished in 24:01 and Jonathan Cosgrove was fifth overall in a time of 19:20.
At Bolton parkrun, Andy Laycock continued his recovery from a knee injury with a time of 24:24.
