A DOZEN young anglers lined up for Doe Hey Reservoirs annual junior fishing match.
The event, open to youngsters aged up to 15 years old, was won by eight-year-old Caitlin Holt.
She caught an impressive weight of 9lb 13oz skimmers and roach at five metres up in the water on caster and pinkie and fed groundbait.
Second was Emma Barnes, aged nine, who fished up in the water at four metres and fed pinkies. She caught a mixed net of roach and skimmers for 4lb 01oz.
Lacey Hill , also aged nine, was third with her 4lb 01oz mixed net of roach and skimmers fishing up in the water at four metres feeding with pinkies, and fourth was Mason Brookes with another mixed net of roach and skimmers for 3lb 09oz.
The match was organised by Tri-Cast-sponsored angler Mick Booth, and attended by ex-England international Vinnie Smith, a well-known angler in the country.
Doe Hey Reservoirs, on Harper Green Road, Farnworth – a private fishing club for members only – open their gates every year to host the event which this year attracted entries aged from five to 15 for a three-hour match.
The specimen fish award went to 15-year-old Will Crompton who caught a 2lb 04oz bream which won him a carp margin pole donated by Tonge Moor Angling Supplies of Bolton.
The event was sponsored by Tri-Cast – one of the country's leading fishing tackle manufacturers, Tonge Moor Angling Supplies, Bradshaw Hall Fisheries and Bolton Angling Centre.
Every entrant received tackle prizes and a free day ticket to Bradshaw Hall Fisheries.
