BOLTON School pupil Zoe Grainger has completed an indoor climbing double after winning the sixth and final round of the Liverpool Hangar under-16s Indoor Bouldering competition.
The triumph comes after a convincing victory a week earlier in the u16s Indoor Winter Bouldering League at Manchester Climbing Centre.
Zoe’s performances in earlier rounds of the Liverpool competition had given the 14-year-old Year 9 pupil in Bolton School Girls’ Division an almost unassailable lead and her comfortable first place saw her over the line.
David Kettle, climbing coach at Bolton School, said: “Zoe`s final round score would have actually won the adult female round, which is incredible.
"She has done extremely well to win this competition, as she has competed against significantly older competitors.”
Zoe’s younger sister, Bella who is aged 11 and attends Bolton School Junior Girls’ School, finished third on the night, which meant she ended the competition in fourth position overall.
Mr Kettle added: “This is also a very impressive result for someone so young.”
As competition winner, Zoe collected a first place medal and a very nice down jacket.
