A woman was injured when she was hit by a wayward tee shot from US player Brooks Koepka during day one of the Ryder Cup.

The spectator, who has not been named, was pictured on the ground following the accident at Le Golf National in Paris.

She was attended to by officials before being taken away for further treatment.

Koepka went to see the injured woman and gave her a signed golf glove, as is customary following such incidents.

No further information has been released about the condition of the woman.

Koepka, the reigning US Open and US PGA champion, went on to win his match with Tony Finau, beating Justin Rose and Jon Rahm.

A Ryder Cup spokesperson said: “A spectator was hit on the head by a golf ball this morning at the sixth hole.

“She was immediately supported by marshals and assessed by the medical team on site.

“She has been taken to the hospital as a precaution but doctors have confirmed the injury is not serious.

“The spectator does not have a broken nose, contrary to what some media announced.”
