DAVID Buchanan reckons Bury are back on track after successive League Two victories.

Five consecutive home defeats put the brakes on a sensational start to the season, but back-to-back wins over Gillingham and Accrington Stanley have put Alan Knill’s side back into the promotion mix.

A trip to face former manager Keith Alexander and his Macclesfield side now awaits Buchanan and his Bury team-mates, and the 22-year-old left-back says confidence is fully restored.

“People around the league probably though that was it for Bury once we lost a few games, but we know we were always capable of turning things around,” said Buchanan.

“It was difficult at times, but the lads have a lot of faith in themselves and there are some good players at this club.

“Macclesfield will be a tough game. They went five games unbeaten before suffering a 4-0 loss against Wycombe on Tuesday night and they will want to bounce back.

“We know it will be a physical game and Macclesfield have some good players, but we want to make it three victories on the bounce.

“We got nine points out of 12 during November, and that type of form will get you automatic promotion if you maintain it throughout a season.

“We don’t fear anyone if we are on our game.”

Bury have had their preparations for the match hampered by the wintery weather. They did not train on Monday or Tuesday, and have had only light sessions in the last two days. The match itself could be in doubt due to the amount of snow that has fallen in Cheshire this week.

Central defender Ben Futcher is suffering with illness, but Knill expects the former Lincoln man to be fit. Paul Morgan, who is on a season-long loan at Macclesfield from Bury, is not eligible to play in the match.

If results go their way, Bury could leap to second in the table by Saturday evening.
