BURY new boy Dean Howell reckons he has joined one of the best teams in League Two following his loan move from Aldershot.

The 28-year-old left-sided player played against the Shakers for his parent club when the two teams drew 3-3 in October, and he is excited to be linking up with Alan Knill’s men.

“I was really impressed with Bury when they played against us at Aldershot,” said Howell, who made his first appearance for his new club in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat of Accrington Stanley.

“They were probably the best team we played this season so I’m delighted to be joining them.

“I was especially pleased to come in and help the lads get a result in my first game. Hopefully there is a bit of momentum going now.

“It’s always better to join a team that’s winning. There is real quality in the team, everyone has made me feel welcome and now we want to carry on the winning ways.

“I have not played for four or five weeks now, so it’ll also be nice to get some games under my belt.”

Bury’s next test is against Macclesfield on Saturday, and Howell knows from experience that a good result at the Moss Rose will take a lot of effort.

“There are no easy games in this league,” said Howell. “I’ve already been to Macclesfield this year with Aldershot and they beat us so the boys have to knuckle down and hopefully get the three points.

“We have got a quality record away from home and, if you do win your away games, you will have a chance at the end of the season.

“The league is tight at the minute so it’s nice to keep the momentum going.”
