ALAN Knill is calling for his Bury side to put together a consistent run of results that would consolidate their position in the promotion places of League Two.

Such is the nature of the division this season, with everyone beating each other, the Shakers stayed within touch of the leading pack despite losing four consecutive home games.

That poor run was halted on Saturday when the Gigg Lane outfit hammered Gillingham 4-0, and the victory lifted Bury up to sixth in the table – six points off the summit.

No team has really set the division alight this season, and Knill reckons a good run of form would put his side into a strong position ahead of the hectic festive period.

“It’s a cracking league this season,” said Knill. “Even though there are teams with some money in the league, it’s not like last year where you look at Peterborough and MK Dons and think that they will just run away with it.

“It makes it really close, and if you can be consistent you are going to be in with a shout.

“We had a poor October, but have taken six points out of nine this month with one game to play.

“If we can put something together away at Accrington on Saturday we will be doing okay.

“We are just trying to stay up there with everyone.”
