ANDY Bishop has said a summer exit from Gigg Lane is not a foregone conclusion.

The 17-goal striker has a year left to run on his contract and many expected the club to cash in on one of their prize assets when the transfer window reopens at the start of July.

But Bishop, who was the subject of two rejected bids from Championship club Ipswich Town in January, is keeping an open mind about his future.

"During the transfer window there was a lot of talk in the papers," Bishop said. "There was a couple of bids that came in, but I went in and spoke to the club and they told me that they wanted to keep hold of me. I just got on with it.

"If something happens in the summer, then that is fine, but for now I'm happy to keep scoring goals and working for the gaffer.

"I have got another year on my contract, I'm settled, so it is all down to the club."

Bishop has failed to find the net in his last nine games ahead of this weekend's home League Two clash against Notts County.

Incredibly, a goalless February still earned him the PFA Player of the Month Award, an accolade which Bishop was quick to brush off.

"I didn't really want to pick it up before the game, I just wanted to get on with it," said the Shakers hitman.

"The run I am on at the moment is probably the longest I have been on in the last few years, so it was a bit of a surprise."
