KEVIN Blackwell has signed two strikers as his Bury side attempt to topple managerless Coventry City this afternoon.

The Shakers boss tied up a loan deal for Peterborough United’s Jonson Clarke-Harris and the permanent signing of former Hull City front man Craig Fagan in time for both to feature in his squad at the Ricoh Arena.

Blackwell had been on the hunt to bolster his strike-force since sending Belgian Jeanvion Yulu-Matondo packing after only one reserve team outing.

And as he searches for only a second victory in 15 against a club unsettled by the recent defection of Mark Robins to Huddersfield Town, the Bury boss has snapped up two players with impressive credentials.

Clarke-Harris is well known to Sky Blues fans after becoming the club’s youngest-ever player when he turned out against Morecambe in the League Cup aged just 16 in 2010.

He has yet to make a first-team appearance at Peterborough but was trialled at Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers before signing for Posh last summer.

Clarke-Harris has also spent some time at Southend United, where he scored two goals in his last three games for the reserves. He signs until the end of the season at Gigg Lane.

The permanent arrival of experienced goal-getter Fagan is likely to come as music to the ears of Shakers fans, with the club struggling all season to find a regular goal supply from their strikers.

The 30-year-old has Premier League experience at Hull and Derby County but featured most recently under Phil Parkinson at Bradford City, where he was released at the end of last season.

Fagan has been training with Hull to stay fit and signs a deal that keeps him with the Shakers until the end of the season.
