OLD Boltonians missed out on their first Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division title since 1985 after being pipped by Prestwich by a single point.
They beat Little Lever SC 3-0 in their final match, with in-form midfielders Sean Rushton (2) and Lee Worswick sharing the goals.
But Old Bolts needed to better their rivals’ result, and Prestwich fired seven past lowly Hindley Juniors with no reply.
Old Bolts had been favourites to land the double up to a couple of weeks ago after winning the Lancashire FA Trophy, but just two wins from their final five matches was not enough to see them home.
