RADCLIFFE Borough were left cursing the linesman's decision which allowed the only goal of the game to stand at Colwyn Bay in the Division One North.
Boro were certain Ashton Taylor – on loan from Tranmere Rovers – was offside when he put Colwyn Bay ahead on 36 minutes.
The visitors were further incensed five minutes from time when Steve Howson's goal-bound effort appeared to be handled on the Bay line before it was cleared.
Boro dealt with former Bury and Tranmere long-throw specialist Dave Challinor's threat with ease and, after a scrappy first half which was spoiled by a strong wind, dominated the second period.
New signing Andy Barlow from AFC Liverpool made his debut in centre midfield, in place of Mark Jones who was suffering from tonsilitis, and up front Ben Wharton partnered Howson in place of Adam Roscoe who was suffering from a knee injury.
A crowd of more than 400 turned up to watch the game with a coach-load of fans from Radcliffe swelling the numbers.
Boro take on Skelmersdale United in the Lancashire Co-Operative Cup final at the County Ground in Leyland tomorrow night, kick off 7.30pm.
