RADCLIFFE Borough inched ever closer to the dreaded drop on Saturday, slipping to defeat against title-chasing Witton Albion.
Alex Clegg's late wonder goal sealed the victory for the visitors, following Brian Pritchard's first-half opener.
Both teams look to be exiting this division in separate ways, but it was only a sharper cutting edge that was the difference between the two sides.
Boro had chances with Matty O'Neill's header tipped over, and a wealth of free-kicks and corners won.
Tim Dittmer made a couple of smart saves, but Boro bossed the second half only to fail to convert dominance into clear-cut chances.
Manager Andy Johnston admits his side are all but doomed now, saying: "It is still possible to stay up, and until it becomes mathematically impossible we have to believe we can still escape.
"However you also have to be realistic and not kid yourself and say it is a very difficult task and I believe we would have to produce a run of results which we have not done all season to enable it to work."
