RADCLIFFE Boro have sold defender Ian Kearney to UniBond Premier League rivals Witton for a four-figure fee.
Kearney turned down a new contract with Andy Johnston's struggling side last week and is set to make his debut for the Wincham Park side tomorrow.
Boro manager Andy Johnston said: "As everyone is aware we have taken the initiative and spoke to all the players (contract players first) in relation to next season and our ambitious plans for next season.
"However, Ian indicated he wanted to move on. We could have held on to his registration and kept him at the club for next season but we made it quite clear we only wanted players who were 100 per cent committed to the club and its future and we would not wish to keep players who were not of the same thoughts as we were."
Kearney joined Boro in February 2006 and made his debut in the 2-0 defeat away at Ossett, going on to make 52 appearances and scoring four goals.
Manager Johnston said: "It is disappointing Ian has decided to move as we would have kept him in the squad for next season, but that is his choice and we respect that and also wish him the best of luck for the future.
