BOLTON NEWS FANTASY CRICKET: Craig Naylor scoops £400 first prize – report, tables, team of the week and team of the season

He finished narrowly ahead of his two main rivals Raj Shah and the Horwich Cricket Club team.

Naylor's team of 11 players shares four players with the team of the season – Dave Flanagan (Lostock), Stephen Hodgkinson (Daisy Hill), Dave Mather (Kearsley) and Imran Mirza (Farnworth), who all recorded at least 140 points.

The team of the season has a slightly unbalanced look to it, with the 10 members of the team other than wicketkeeper Jake O'Byrne all specialist bowlers or all-rounders.

Kearsley's Cameron Murray, who is way down in 32nd, is the highest-placed specialist batsman, and even he bowl a few overs.

Atherton's professional Adeel Baig is the leading player, although he would have been pushed by the Tonge professional Tilaksha Malshan had he not returned home before the end of the season.

The Bolton News teamed up with the Bolton Cricket League to run this super Fantasy Cricket competition.

And the super £400 prize on offer to the winner was courtesy of competition sponsor Anthony Axford timber merchants of Farnworth.

Points were awarded to players depending on how well they performed in the 18 league games in the Bolton League, and the winning entrant was the one who amassed the most points throughout the season.

The competition was based on the MVP (Most Valuable Player) statistics from the electronic scoring system CricHQ.

Entrants selected five players from the Premier Division and five from the Association Division plus one professional from either division.

The fun game ran throughout the Bolton League season and every Thursday an updated table was in The Bolton News and on our website.
