EGERTON have been relegated from the Greater Manchester Premier Division after their match with Walshaw was abandoned on Saturday.
The 2016 champions will be playing second-tier cricket after a disastrous title defence saw them finish fourth bottom in the final relegation spot.
Walshaw were also relegated.
It was only the second game Egerton had abandoned all year, but it proved the most costly.
Elsewhere, Edgworth were promoted to the top tier after securing a fourth-place finish in Division One.
Their match with Denton fell was abandoned meaning they did not have to put up a fight to protect the final promotion spot.
The Bolton Road side were level on points with fifth-placed Flowery Field, with an equal record of wins and losses, but have an extra tie score which proved the difference.
Division Two leaders Astley and Tyldesley still have two matches remaining before they can clinch the league title.
They missed a chance to extend their five-point cushion at the summit on Saturday when their match with second-placed Thornham was abandoned.
There are still two weeks of the season remaining in the third tier as they compete in a 14-team league.
