Andy and Rachel Norman are a Burnden couple who are not afraid to battle a variety of races and this time it was a 10-miler in the stunning Lakes.

The Derwentwater 10 road race, organised by Keswick AC, is in its 65th year and is an undulating loop around the water run on entirely tarmac roads.

The Normans conquered this challenge in superb times of 1hr 37mins 57secs and 1:37:58, for Rachel and Andy, respectively.

‘It’s Grim Up North Running’ offers a fairytale selection of races and events and one was just right for Sue and Simon Marland as they headed to the Yorkshire Dales.

The Swinsty and Fewston Trail race takes competitors around the two reservoirs of the title.

It is a beautiful and undulating run finishing with a steep hill near the finish and runners can choose to complete 6.7 miles with one lap or 13.4 with two.

Sue completed her one lap in 1:20:07 and Simon finished his 13.4 in a super 1:50:42.

Armistice Day is marked in the race calendar each year with a variety of runs and beautiful Lytham beckoned two members to the Windmill 10K for Remembrance Day.

One of a series of races centred around the eye-catching Windmill, this is a very flat course that is deceptively tough in the November wind.

The race started with a two-minute’s silence and then a super 5K run out to Avenham Lake followed by a biting return.

First home was Luke Newell in 1:03:31, followed by Tony Fulop, in 1:10:03.

The Dunnerdale Fell might take runners through the Lickle valley, but there’s nothing ‘lickle’ about the elevation as Jocelyn Chadderton found out this week.

The five-mile race is a short trek round the tiny, but rugged fells between the Lickle and the Duddon valleys. With superb scenery, it is a feast for the eyes but a trial for the legs as the tough course reaches heights of 1,800 feet.

Chadderton was proud to ‘bring up the rear’ as second lady from the chatty back in 1:25:00.

Presented by SportsShoes.com, the Podium 5K is advertised as the fastest 5K race. Featuring the fastest 500 on its website, the race is open to all athletes but is a fast, PB-setting opportunity in different locations.

Two of Burnden’s fastest headed to Leicester to compete and brought back fantastic times for the 3.1-mile distance. Mark Whittington was home in 17:33 and Michael Kermode crossed the line in 18:46.
