DION Charles and Luke Southwood have been called up to the Northern Ireland squad for their Nations League games against Belarus and Luxembourg this month.
With Eoin Toal out until late December with a hamstring injury, only two Bolton Wanderers players made Michael O’Neill’s shortlist for the games in Belfast on Friday, November 15, and in Luxembourg City on Monday, November 18.
Charles will hope to win a 23rd cap for Northern Ireland, and add to the three goals he has scored at international level. Southwood has been capped just once for his country so far.
Toal has been replaced in the squad by Brighton youth Ruairi McConville, who has previously captained the Under-21s.
West Brom defender Paddy McNair also had to drop out of the squad because of injury but Sunderland’s Daniel Ballard and Birmingham City keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell are back available after missing out on last month’s group games.
Keeper Christy Pym, of Mansfield Town, has dropped down to the standby list.
Full squad: Goalkeepers – Bailey Peacock-Farrell (Birmingham City), Pierce Charles (Sheffield Wednesday), Luke Southwood (Bolton Wanderers).
