Daisy Hill will continue their quest for league points on Saturday when they make the short trip to Euxton Villa in the North West Counties League First Division North (3pm).
October was a decent month for Lee Hill’s men, with three wins, a draw and a narrow defeat to Ashton Town in the FA Vase, and the Daisy boss is challenging his side to continue the good form tomorrow.
“It was a good month, although there were some games in there we really should be winning,” said Hill.
“Looking at the games we didn’t win, we lost by a single goal against Ashton Town and conceded a last-minute equaliser to draw with Ashton Athletic, but overall it has been a pleasing month.
“We now have a long run of Saturday games and no midweek games, and that means we can be a bit more consistent in our approach to training sessions.
“It gives us a chance to plan properly and not just be focused on recovery from midweek games.”
Back in September, Daisy fell to a 4-1 defeat at Euxton in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy, and Hill says his planning for this weekend will include a review of that game, as well as being aware Euxton Villa fell to an unexpected league defeat at Steeton last weekend.
“We know quite a bit about them anyway, as I am good friends with Matt Atherton, their manager, but we need to look back at the video of that game in September to see how it played out,” said Hill
“We will be looking at what they do and how they set up, but I will be more focused on what we can do and how we can cause them problems.
“Euxton are a good side who have established themselves in the league as a side competing for a play-off place.
“Their result last week will mean they will definitely be fired up, and I would say that result was surprising as the game was played on an artificial surface, like Euxton have.
“But it’s not something we can look too much into, as their overall record shows they are one of the more consistent teams in the league, especially their home form.
“They are going to be hungry and looking to right the wrong from last week, and we don’t want to be on the wrong end of that.”
