Klaidi Lolos’ late winner against Peterborough was even sweeter after a tough start to his Wanderers career.

The versatile midfielder had been keen to hit the ground running after joining from Crawley over the summer.

However, his game time has been limited after injury struck against Leyton Orient on the opening day.

Lolos made the most of his opportunity off the bench against Posh as Ian Evatt’s men secured an important three points.

“It was a bit of a scramble,” he grinned. “I just felt like I had to run to the ball as quick as possible and get it in.

“Thankfully, it landed on my chest and went in, and we got the three points. It feels better than scoring a 30-yarder!

“It has been a bit of a stop-start season for me in terms of the injury and getting back to full fitness again in training.

“For (the goal) to come in front of our fans in the 90th minute and win the game, it couldn’t have been any better! I am really proud and more importantly very happy that the team got three points.”

Wanderers created a number of good chances but it seemed as though it wasn’t going to be their day until Lolos sent the Toughsheet Community Stadium into pandemonium.

The 24-year-old hailed his team-mates' mentality and insists they must keep believing until the very last whistle.

“The boys were buzzing, it is a great way to win a game,” he continued. “Thankfully, it came off.

“We deserved to win the game so for it to happen the way it did, it gave us a great feeling in the changing room.

“It is just one of those things now it has happened, if we do find ourselves drawing we will have the feeling that we can do it again.

“Mentality is everything and when you are that sort of team out there pressing to get a goal and giving it your all, it demoralises the opposition.

“We just have to go on the pitch in the state of mind from the get go. That is our goal, to start games like that, and it will come.”

The games keep coming thick and fast for the Whites, but Lolos is relishing the challenges ahead as he aims to show what he can do in League One.

“Like the gaffer said, we had a conversation this week,” he explained.

“It was just one of those where he told me what he felt, how I need to be patient and carry on working the same way I have been. I took it on board, thankfully he put me on and I managed to get the winner.

“That is what we work towards throughout the whole week – to get three points on Saturday or Tuesday.

“To get the job done is massive and now we have to concentrate on the next game at Stevenage.”
