Chris Davies felt his Birmingham side delivered one of their best performances of the season so far against Wanderers.
The Blues made it five successive home wins at St Andrew’s to maintain their place at the top of the League One table.
Tomoki Iwata scored an early opener and Jay Stansfield sealed the result from the penalty spot in the final stages.
“It was dominant, I would say would be the word to describe it,” Davies told the club channels.
“We started really well, aggressive and scored the goal. But I think the fluency with the ball we had was one of the best we have had this season.
“We were fast in our possession, we were patient but still looked like we were trying to go forward and attack.
“We were moving well into the right spaces at the right times, looking for the right runs.
“We were good with the ball and I think that dominance kept control of the game, we gave very little away defensively.
“But when you have only scored one goal, the longer the game goes on that door is left ajar if they can get a counter attack or set piece. We needed that second goal so I was pleased when that came.”
John McAtee had a big chance to get Bolton back on level terms before Stansfield’s penalty, but Ryan Allsop stood tall to deny the attacker from close range.
“Bolton are a good side at this level, they were play-off finalists last year and missed out narrowly on the Championship,” Davies continued.
“I think they will be in around it this year. They try to play with the ball, some decent players, so we had to give them no time basically and press aggressively. That takes a lot of hard work and intensity, the players delivered that.”
He added: “They had a little spell where they looked dangerous in a couple of moments and Ryan makes a really big save.
“They squeezed through a gap and he still had a bit to do, the attacker, but Ryan stood up well. His initial position was good and makes the save with his left leg.
“That is what goalkeepers have to do, they have to be good in all the other stuff but ultimately, they are in the goal to make saves in big moments and that is what he did again.”
