The third week of the Key PE Cup proved to be another exciting and action-packed afternoon, filled with standout performances, determined teamwork, and tremendous support from parents and spectators.

With each team growing stronger as the season progresses, the competition was fierce, and the young players once again put on a fantastic display of talent and effort.

One of the highlights of the day came from St Peter’s Smithills Deane Primary School, who displayed a masterclass in ball control and passing.

From the very first whistle, the team demonstrated exceptional technical ability, keeping possession through accurate passing and well-executed movement.

Their focus on ball retention allowed them to control much of the game, preventing their opponents from finding their rhythm. The midfielders were particularly impressive, linking up play between defence and attack with confidence and composure. St Peter’s’ clear strategy and disciplined play were key to their strong performance this week.

Meanwhile, The Oaks Primary School also had a standout performance by Archie Beaumont that caught the eye. Archie was relentless in his tackling, displaying a level of determination that set him apart as a driving force for his team. His ability to win back possession and disrupt the opposition’s play was crucial in The Oaks’ efforts to stay competitive in their match. Time and time again, Archie threw himself into challenges with precision and courage, showing leadership and setting a great example for his team-mates. His tenacity was a significant factor in The Oaks’ performance this week, and he certainly left his mark on the game.

On the defensive end, Nat Bolton from Sacred Heart Primary School also had an outstanding game, showcasing his talent as a solid defender.

Bolton’s positioning and reading of the game were impeccable, making him a tough obstacle for any attacker to get past. His awareness and timing in tackles helped Sacred Heart remain resolute at the back, and his calmness under pressure was a key element in his team’s performance. Bolton’s presence in defence gave his team-mates the confidence to push forward, knowing they had a reliable figure guarding their goal.

The most dramatic moment of the day came from Emily Gerrard, the goalkeeper for St Bartholomew’s Primary School. Gerrard delivered a sensational performance between the posts, making a series of vital saves that kept her team in the game at crucial moments. Her quick reflexes and bravery were on full display as she thwarted several close-range efforts, earning the admiration of her team-mates and spectators alike. The match became even more dramatic when Emily sustained an injury while making a brave save. However, in a show of incredible determination and resilience, she chose to carry on, playing through the pain to see the game through to the final whistle. Emily’s performance was a true testament to her character, and without her, the outcome could have been very different.

Once again, the support from parents and spectators was fantastic. The encouragement from the parents clearly lifted the players, pushing them to give their best efforts.

As the league continues to build momentum, it’s clear every team is improving, and individual performances like those of Archie Beaumont, Nat Bolton, and Emily Gerrard are raising the overall level of competition.
