Mark Robinson says his Burton Albion side must “learn quickly” following a slow start in League One.

The Brewers are still waiting for their first victory of the campaign and find themselves in the relegation zone.

There was plenty of change at the Pirelli Stadium over the summer, with the club taken over by a Scandinavian consortium who oversaw an overhaul of the squad.

Burton were beaten 3-1 by Bristol Rovers in their last outing despite taking the lead through Danilo Orsi.

"Their substitutes made an impact,” Robinson told the club channels. “Second half, I don't think they did any more than just run all over us and get tight to us, and we did not have enough about us.

“We cannot be like that. We have probably got three players who have played at this level second half, so I have got to remember that, but we have got to learn quickly.

"When teams are going to put it on you, we have got to find a way to stand up to it and relieve that pressure.

“If we relieve pressure for the first 20 minutes and go on to win the game then everyone will forget about it."

That result made it five defeats on the bounce for the Brewers in all competitions, and Robinson admits they have been “naïve” at times.

"You cannot always have perfect control in games,” he added. “First half, we had a lot of control and we were good.

“I am sure their half time team talk was to get stuck in, get into them, run all over them and you have got to be able to stand up to that. We did not in that spell so again it has become difficult.

“Then, of course, their subs have made a massive impact and ours have not. No discredit to our lads or any individuals, it is just their subs at half time changed the game.

"We have got to learn to enjoy being in front, we were in front against Mansfield and we did not see it through because of naivety.”

Burton also had no game last weekend, with their fixture against Charlton postponed due to international call-ups.

Ahead of the break, Robinson said: "Whatever is thrown at you has to be a good and if you are process driven, that is how you have to work.

“If you have got a game, you work hard to bounce back. We look at it as a positive that we have got two weeks to get better at what we need to get better at."
