Daisy Hill have no game tomorrow, but are back in action on Monday night when they host Skelmersdale United in the first round of the North West Counties League’s Edward Case Cup (7.45pm).

Lee Hill’s men got back to winning ways after picking up three points from a 4-1 league victory over Garstang last Friday, before following that up with a 2-1 win against Bolton County on Monday in the quarter-final of the Atherton Charity Cup.

And the Daisy boss is challenging his side to continue their good run this Monday.

“The mood in the camp is good after the two wins, although we weren’t overly convincing and made a lot of changes for the Bolton County game,” said Hill. “But to get two wins was good, and we’ve got one semi-final in the bag so we can put that aside and concentrate on other things.

“Now it’s about getting the good habits back where the performance can match the result.”

Daisy will start as favourites against a Skelmersdale United side who sit at the bottom of the North West Counties League First Division North, and who were on the wrong end of a 6-0 hammering from Daisy when the two sides met in the league a month ago.

But Hill is keen to dismiss any talk of a repeat performance this time around.

“We take absolutely nothing from that league game, it’s a completely clean slate,” he said. “I expect them to come at us hungry and they will not roll over and take what’s given to them.

“Any team on its day can beat any team in this league, we’ve seen that already, especially from the bottom of the league up to around the play off places. You only need to be off your game by about five per cent and the other team on it by an extra five per cent and it becomes an even game.

“Skelmersdale will come and fight and try to correct what went wrong last time, and they have got one or two players who could cause us problems. We’ve seen that and our lads need to understand that.

“They are struggling in the league but cup games could give them that extra bit of bite, so I am not expecting it to be an easy ride.”
