Nathan Baxter has picked up a thigh issue – but Wanderers hope to have him back available after the international break.
Luke Southwood started between the sticks against Shrewsbury in Baxter’s absence, while Joel Coleman was also absent from the squad due to injury.
Luke Hutchinson made the bench at the weekend after being recalled from his loan at Marine, and the youngster is now set to make his senior debut with Southwood away on international duty.
“Nathan has got a grade two thigh injury which probably needs two to three weeks,” Ian Evatt explained.
“Post the international break, we are hoping we will be back fit and available. Sprinting out for that ball at Northampton, he just felt his quad. It is nothing major but it was enough to keep him out on Saturday.
“We have recalled Luke Hutchinson, he will get a chance in the first team. He has been doing really well out on loan and deserves an opportunity. He will be playing in goal.”
Szabi Schon, Dion Charles, Eoin Toal and Josh Sheehan are the others players away on international duty with their respective nations.
Klaidi Lolos is set to get minutes under his belt against the Villa youngsters, while defensive duo Gethin Jones and Will Forrester are also nearing a return to action.
“Klaidi will play,” Evatt added. “Hopefully, in the next week we will have Gethin and Will Forrester back. Then the world looks a very different place in terms of squad depth.
“We will get through Tuesday night as best we can with the bodies we have available. There will be some young players playing, there is no denying that.
“They have to, but we trust them and it is a great opportunity for them to show what they can do.”
The Whites have been light in numbers at centre-back since Chris Forino picked up a hamstring injury at Arsenal.
Sam Inwood has been around the first team squad lately and the youngster could now get a chance to show what he can do.
“Sam will be in the squad, he is a player who has done very well,” said the manager. “I love his attitude, he has that George Thomason kind of attitude.
“He is improving all the time and wants to learn. I know the B Team set-up have been very impressed with the way he has started the season, he will be involved with us.”
