Atherton LR boss Dave Jones was naturally delighted after seeing his in-form side win Friday’s home derby against Daisy Hill 6-0.

The North West Counties League First Division North leaders were comprehensive victors and Jones praised his team’s tempo that saw them collect all three points and boost their goal difference in the process.

Jones told the club channels: “I am delighted. Obviously we knew it was going to be a difficult game with all the extra edge so we knew we had to match that first of all.

“We had to make sure out quality was right, our tempo and we attacked properly and you get your reward with six goals.”

It was not only the players who were lauded by Jones; he was also impressed by the sizeable turnout from both sets of supporters.

Jones added: “I think its brilliant, two local teams going at it on a Friday night.

“It was a great decision by the clubs and the league to allow that to happen. It allows more people to get in and see what we’re about.

“The lads definitely buzzed off it tonight, so a good night all round on and off the pitch”
