The games keep coming thick and fast for Wanderers with a trip to Crawley Town next on the agenda.
Ian Evatt’s men will be aiming to make it back-to-back league wins following their 5-2 victory against Reading.
The Whites were beaten 5-1 by Arsenal in the Carabao Cup in midweek, with Aaron Collins scoring in the second half in front of the 4000-plus supporters who had travelled down to the capital.
Team news
Chris Forino is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a significant” hamstring tear against the Gunners.
Academy graduate Sam Inwood is now being considered for the squad, with Wanderers short on fit centre-halves.
Carlos Mendes Gomes is making progress and Klaidi Lolos is nearing a first team return, although the versatile midfielder will not be involved against his former club this weekend.
Evatt made seven changes at the Emirates to combat the hectic fixture list, and Tuesday night’s trip to Northampton will also be in the back of his mind.
As for the hosts, new signing Benjamin Tanimu could make his debut but the influential Dion Conroy is yet to feature this season.
Opposition lowdown
Crawley were dealt a major blow in the build-up to the game, with manager Scott Lindsey leaving to take charge at MK Dons.
Ben Gladwin will be in the dugout this weekend. The 32-year-old returned to the club in a coaching role over the summer after hanging up his boots.
Crawley have taken seven points from their opening six matches back in the third tier, including wins against Blackpool and Cambridge. They were beaten 2-1 by Wrexham last weekend despite Junior Quitirna’s goal.
Head-to-head
Wanderers have only faced the Red Devils three times in competitive fixtures, winning once and losing twice.
The victory was a rather memorable one, securing promotion from League Two on the final day of the 2020/21 campaign after goals from Antoni Sarcevic, Dapo Afolayan, Eoin Doyle and Lloyd Isgrove.
Bolton’s only other trip to the Broadfield Stadium was a defeat in the League Cup in 2012 despite taking the lead through Benik Afobe.
