WANDERERS (3-5-2).
LUKE SOUTHWOOD…5.
Real mixed bag on his return to the starting line-up. Some decent saves but also some poor decision making and a couple of goals he would expect to have stopped.
CHRIS FORINO…5.
Limped off with a hamstring injury, which was a sad way to end a tough night. Got caught on the ball early in the second half for Arsenal’s third.
RICARDO SANTOS…5.5.
Implicated in Forino’s second-half error and found a bit too deep at times as Arsenal sliced through. Did some of the more basic defending well, though.
EOIN TOAL…5.5.
Probably the pick of the defenders, even if he looked uncomfortable having to track wide to stop Saka every time he got beyond Williams.
JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…5.
Didn’t envy him one bit trying to stem the Gunners tide on their left – let alone the fact he’ll be asked to step up again for 90 minutes on Saturday at Crawley.
JOSH SHEEHAN…5.
Struggled to really get into the game in the central areas but there were a few moments where his quality told, and he should have had a penalty.
SCOTT ARFIELD…4.5.
Should have scored early on with Bolton’s best chance of the game – then made the error which led to Declan Rice’s goal. Just couldn’t get going.
KYLE DEMPSEY...5.
Plenty of hard running, as ever, but found it hard to make a dent in the Premier League hosts.
RANDELL WILLIAMS…5.
Didn’t let his head go down, which is a positive, but up against Saka and Nwaneri he was always going to have his hands full.
JOHN MCATEE…6.5.
Probably his strongest showing for Bolton so far. Unlucky not to have scored in the second half and led the line well.
AARON COLLINS…7.
Whatever the scoreline, Collins got a goal he will never forget. Won free kicks, asked a few questions of the Arsenal back line. Didn’t look outclassed.
Subs: Thomason 5, 69 (for Dempsey), Matete 5, 69 (for Arfield), Johnston 71 (for Forino), Charles 80 (for Collins), Adeboyejo 80 (for McAtee).
Not used: Baxter, Schon, Matheson, Inwood.

Subs: Gabriel 61 (for Lewis-Skelly), Havertz 61 (for Rice), Kacurri 70 (for Califiori), Martinelli 70 (for Saka), Kabia (for Sterling).
Not used: Saliba, Partey, Alexi Rojas, Heaven.
Referee: Josh Smith 6/10 – Should have been a penalty on Sheehan but it wouldn’t have impacted the game all that much.
MAN OF THE MATCH – Aaron Collins.
Both front men showed up well in the circumstances but Collins scored a goal which gave the Bolton fans something to celebrate, and that was all they asked.
MOAN OF THE MATCH – Arsenal had gears to spare, nobody is kidding themselves, but for Bolton to cough up the sort of mistakes they did at crucial times was really frustrating.
MAGIC MOMENT – McAtee’s direct ball for Collins, his pace then composure, and the roar of the Wanderers supporters as he rolled the ball into the net. Glorious.
ATMOSPHERE – Bolton’s 4,000 fans were basically singing solo for the first 60 minutes of the game. There were loads of Arsenal supporters in the building but you could hardly hear them for most of the night.
