WWE superstar Santos Escobar can't wait to perform at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena for the first time.

Escobar will be part of the highly anticipated event on Wednesday, October 16. Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, Bianca Belair and Gunther are some of the other names advertised at the time of writing.

The show is part of WWE’s latest UK tour, with dates also confirmed in Cardiff, Liverpool, Newcastle, Dublin, London, Nottingham and Sheffield.

Over the years, British crowds have gained a reputation for being some of the loudest and most passionate across the globe.

That is something Escobar has experienced first-hand. During the Money in the Bank event in London last year, he was serenaded by an amusing chant to the tune of a well-known TV advert.

“I love when they chant, ‘Just sold my car to Santos Escobar’. That is always a highlight when I perform in the UK and I can’t wait to hear it,” he beamed. “It is going to be an amazing tour.

“I understood the tune right away but I couldn’t make out what they were saying. It was at Money in the Bank so I was really busy!

“I was trying to focus on my match but I could hear them getting really excited about it. I was performing good moves and I think that inspired them to sing it.

“After the match, I asked a friend, ‘What were they chanting?’ He told me and I thought it was amazing.

“The UK crowds are so unique in the world. As performers, especially in the UK, we look forward to these moments and it entertains us as well.”

There is a rich wrestling history in the UK. Originally, the likes of Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks helped paved the way and years later, William Regal and Fit Finlay were among the names who flew the flag.

Escobar has been inspired by Regal throughout his career and got the chance to learn directly from the Brit when he joined WWE.

“William Regal, he is probably the biggest one,” said the Mexican. “He inspired me and then I met him, I was doubly inspired.

“He is amazing, I have learnt a lot from him. Robbie Brookside, the same thing. I have had my fair share of learning from those guys and I really cherish everything I have learnt from them.”
