On a pleasant autumnal day, we made our way down to the Toughsheet Community stadium to watch the Wanderers take on the Terriers from Huddersfield.
Our Doombar deliberations looked at England's new era, post Gareth Southgate, taking our minds off Bolton's poor start to the season.
With Huddersfield Town being one of the relegated teams from the Championship, a tough game was in prospect, but we hoped that the international break had given us a chance to regroup and reignite our season.
Ian Evatt made changes but appeared to name a strong team along with a strong bench.
The crowd was up for it but sadly the team wasn't. What followed was awful and painful to watch. No spirit, no fight, no ideas. We looked like we have lost the plot as Huddersfield coasted to a 4-0 victory, without breaking into a sweat.
Our substitutions failed to lift the team, and a lot of fans voted with their feet after the third goal went in, followed by even more when the fourth went in. At least that made getting off the car park at full time easier.
There is no doubt that we are in an early season crisis. One win in five matches, no goals in the last four matches and we didn't even look like scoring today.
There is no confidence in the team and the fans are fast losing faith. The management are saying that the hangover from losing the Play-off final is proving difficult to get over.
I would point to the loss of form since last Christmas as we had a very poor second half of last season. Ian Evatt is sounding lost in his post-match interviews.
We were all disappointed after the Oxford match but that's gone. The way to get over disappointments is to roll your sleeves up and come back stronger.
The board have backed Ian Evatt with eight new players. Yes, they may need time to blend in but they should be showing some signs of improvement by now.
We are still playing like strangers. We are not playing as a team. When the going gets tough, the tough need to get going.
We need to get it sorted quickly or we will be writing this season off, before it's hardly started.
The fans are fast losing confidence. It looks like the manager and the players are as well.
