Daisy Hill are targeting back-to-back wins for the first time this season, when they host Skelmersdale United at the Plumb Factory Stadium on Saturday in the North West Counties League First Division North (3pm).
A stoppage-time winner from Ryan Lockett sealed victory over Route One Rovers last weekend after a winless run of three games.
And Daisy manager Lee Hill is looking for his team to keep the winning momentum going.
“Last Saturday’s win was essential for us,” said Hill.
“The message before the game was that it didn’t matter how we play, it was points over performance and we just had to get the three points to keep us in touch with the teams above us, and not drop back.
“The manner we went about the game was pleasing, and one thing I must say about the lads, no matter who we’ve played this season, against every team so far right up to the 90th minute we’ve kept going and still knocking on the door.
“The lads kept going last Saturday right to the end, which is something I really like.”
Saturday’s opponents Skelmersdale United are a famous non-league name in North West football circles, but after relegation at the end of last season they have struggled to adapt to life in the lower division, and currently sit at the bottom of the table with only two points collected so far.
But Hill is emphasising the game must be approached in the same way as any other.
“It’s the same message for Saturday as I gave against Route One Rovers last weekend,” said the Daisy boss.
“It’s a potential banana skin, and we are not looking at league positions, we are looking at it as a game of 11 v 11 where you have to go out and do a job.
“If we look at the league table and just think that we are playing the team at the bottom of the league, all I’d say is that we fell into that trap when we played Steeton a few weeks ago.
“They were down at the bottom of the League, and we had the wrong mindset, got punished for it and lost the game.
“We didn’t do that against Route One Rovers, and we have to go into the game against Skelmersdale on Saturday with the same approach and mindset as we showed last weekend.
“We’ve got to be clinical, go about our jobs and when we get the chances, we have got to take them.”
