A quartet of darting youngsters are aiming to fire a new Horwich team to Lancashire Super League success this season.

The new team has joined Division Three of the league and won its first outing on Sunday, 6-4 in legs against Todmorden Central.

Playing out of Horwich Youth Darts at the Reform Club, the new squad includes four members of the youth side and captain Sean Marsh hopes they can prove to be Bolton’s own Luke Littlers, and perform beyond their tender years.

He explained: “Our intention is to get Horwich back on the map as there hasn’t been a Super League team since the late 80s - early 90s.

“We operate at Horwich Youth Darts and teach youngsters from age eight to 16, so we decided set a Super League team with four of our young rising stars - Harley Wiggins, Curtis Jackson, Josh Johnson and James Marsh - joining alongside experienced darters from the Bolton Triple D League.

“The League runs every four weeks on a Sunday and we won our first game against Todmorden.

“I actually spoke to Eric Rawlinson - an experienced darter - who told me in one of his games, he checked out 154. Hopefully, these youngsters can replicate big finishes like that and keep progressing.”

The team skipper says the formation is all thanks to Horwich Youth Darts, which is run by Nikki Winstanley and Aston Wiggins on the top floor at the Reform Club.

There is a waiting list for youngsters aged eight to 18 to join and more details are from Nikki on 07885 671592 or by emailing Horwichyouthdarts@gmail.com.
