A host of Lostock AC members took part in the annual Chair’s Fell Race last week.

This is a race for club members that commences at Rivington Hall Barn and traverses the fells of Rivington,

It covers five miles and a tough elevation gain over a beautiful route that takes in all the sights of Rivington. The race requires runners to run to the top of the Pike and to the Mast.

It was a difficult run and very wet under foot, and many runners found the mud and bogs as they ran across the moors.

The first Lostocker to cross the finish line was fell captain Josie Greenhalgh in an impressive 52mins 22secs. She was followed by first male, Andy Laycock, in 53:37, then by Mark Shuttleworth, in 53:55, and Brian Halton, in 55:47.

The next female to finish was Nikki Hamerton (56:34) and third woman was Rachel Hancock, in 1:03:26.

Other results: Ian Johnson 57:20, Gareth Pratt 1:04:30, Matt Withers 1:06:06, David Wilcock 1:07:20, Mark Checkley 1:09:25, Chris Baker 1:10:32, Tony Maxwell 1:10:51, Karen Taylor 1:12::03, Amanda Smith 1:12:13, Chris Taylor 1:12:14.

The club would like to thank Mark Smith for organising and all the marshals who volunteered to help the race take place.

Lostocker Rachel Stevens competed in the August instalment of the Run through Media City 5k.

The race takes place at the iconic Media City, in Salford, starting outside the BBC studios and participants follow the Manchester Ship Canal, before completing a loop, running across a bridge and past the Lowry Theatre. The race then completes a circuit around the Imperial War Museum before heading back across the canal to the beginning. This is a two-lap race.

The final 100 metres is fast with runners sprinting down from the bridge to the finish.

It was perfect conditions for racing and Stevens had a fine run, finishing in 26:04 and achieving a season PB.

There is just one final race to go in this series.
