WANDERERS (3-4-2-1).

NATHAN BAXTER…7.

Came up with two very big saves in the first half. One of those slips his grasp and it could have been a very different type of night.

JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…6.

Playing on the right side of the back three he did the job he was asked to do. No frills and only occasionally managed to push forward, it was all solid enough.

RICARDO SANTOS…6.

Perhaps caught a yard too deep for Barrow’s second but otherwise had a reasonable night against a decent striker in Dallas.

GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.5.

His positioning bailed Bolton out a couple of times when crosses came flashing into the box. Another steady Eddie defensively.

JORDI OSEI-TUTU…6.

Was Bolton’s best attacking threat until he was forced to come off. Hopefully the knee issue will not be anything that keeps him out for long.

JAY MATETE…6.5.

Got his challenges in, used the ball well on the whole, and got involved all over the pitch. Really pushing for a start in the league now.

GEORGE THOMASON…6.

Not everything worked out for him – and he was guilty of a couple of sloppy passes in his own half – but Thomason was trying stuff others weren’t, and that worked in the end.

SZABI SCHON…6.

Beaten in the air for the opening goal but looked more lively going forward than he had at the weekend.

JOHN MCATEE…7.

Grabbed a first goal in Bolton Wanderers colours and deserved it for continually trying to make something happen.

KYLE DEMPSEY…7.

Combined well with Osei-Tutu on the right and looked busy all evening. Another one to open his account for the new season.

AARON COLLINS…7.

Not at his best in the first half but really came alive in the second, scoring a magnificent goal to put Wanderers ahead.

Subs: Matheson 6.5, 32 (for Osei-Tutu) – Full of energy. Good showing.

Lewis 90+4 (for McAtee).

Not used: Dallimore, Weston, Isong, Eze, Sharples-Ahmed.

Barrow: Stanway; Foley, Canavan, Tiensa, Jackson, Weston, Koyate, Campbell, Worrall, Dallas, Telford.

Subs: Vassell 46 (for Canavan), Spence 46 (for Campbell), Garner 46 (for Kouyate), Eccleston 60 (for Jackson), Etaluku 70 (for Telford) Not used: Farman, Stokes.

Referee: Thomas Parsons 8/10 – Not a great night for football weather-wise but the referee didn’t really get too involved and let a decent game flow. No real complaints.

Attendance: 2,005 (686)

MAN OF THE MATCH – John McAtee.

Collins and Dempsey were good shouts but McAtee was always looking for the ball on the half-turn and looking to ask questions of the home defenders. Good to see him off the mark.

MOAN OF THE MATCH – It is worrying that Bolton have conceded so many goals from set pieces this season after making such a lot of improvement last time around. One to fix for Ian Evatt.

MAGIC MOMENT – Aaron Collins’ goal in the driving rain was a work of art in an otherwise unspectacular fixture. Brilliant finish.

ATMOSPHERE – Hard to tell from the indoor press box at Holker Street but what little we could hear came from the Bolton fans.
