IN-FORM Barrow might not have the Bristol Street Motors Trophy at the top of their priority list with a money-spinning cup tie at Chelsea on the horizon.
Like Wanderers – who drew a third round tie at Arsenal – the Bluebirds got reward for victory against Port Vale and a penalty shootout win against Championship side Derby County by earning a trip to Stamford Bridge on September 17.
Mazeed Ogungbo, Sam Barnes, and Chris Stokes are all back in training for Barrow but Rory Feely and Connor Mahoney are definitely not in contention to play.
Barrow have won their last three league games, Neo Eccleston scoring the winning goal at Harrogate at the weekend to register a first away win of the calendar year. They also put four goals past Vale and beat Crewe 1-0 on the opening day of the season.
Their only defeat so far came at the hands of Cumbrian rivals Carlisle United last month, and Stephen Clemence’s side currently sit third in the table.
Barrow signed Leicester City striker Chris Popov on deadline day on a season-long loan, the 19-year-old making his debut last Saturday.
Manager Clemence, who took the job in May after parting ways with Pete Wild at the end of last season, was pleased with his side’s performance at the weekend.
“There’s a lot of talk that we haven’t won away from home in a long, long time. That obviously stretches into last season, but it’s good to get that monkey off our backs,” he said.
“If we’re going to be successful this season we’ve got to pick up points on the road.
“Our home form’s been very good this season, but it’s now great to get points on the board so early too.
“I told the boys before the game it had been a good week so far, but if we got a result we’d make it a great week.
“I thought they were outstanding and thoroughly deserved to win.
“We’ve come away from home and dominated for long, long periods. Probably up until injury time when Paul Farman had to make some good saves, we were under pressure there.
“I’m really, really pleased. It’s a really good away performance.
“That’s football You’ve always got a chance and Harrogate had a chance to equalise at the end. Their bench was getting very excited. It would have been harsh, but it happens where you don’t get the result you deserve.
“I thought the boys, to a man, really stood up to be counted.”
