Former Wanderer Billy Crellin has joined League Two club Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan from Everton.
Crellin made 16 appearances for the Whites while on loan from Fleetwood during the 2020/21 campaign.
The goalkeeper headed to Everton in January 2022 and has featured for the Toffees' Under-21 side in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy and Premier League 2. He also made the bench in a Premier League clash with Arsenal.
Manager John Doolan told the club site: "Billy will be good competition for Michael Kelly and Liam Isherwood. It's healthy competition, it's what we wanted, cover in every position.
"Billy has come from a Premier League club, he has come with a lot of potential, and we are excited to work with him."
The 24-year-old will now play alongside Nelson Khumbeni, who headed on loan to the Wham Stadium earlier this month.
Crellin added: "It felt right to get out on loan now and I want to play as much as I can. Everton wanted me to play some games, there were a couple of clubs interested, including Accrington, and I was happy to come and hopefully I can help the team.
"As goalkeepers we all understand there is only one spot and we will push each other. Most of the time goalkeepers get on and understand how hard the position is. I just want to play as many minutes as I can."
Elsewhere, Aaron Ramsdale - who spent time in Wanderers' ranks as a youngster - has left Arsenal to join Southampton.
The deal for the 26-year-old could reportedly rise to £25million as the Saints aim to build on last season's promotion from the Championship.
“He is hungry to become England’s number one again and he wants to be here. I think that is so important,” boss Russell Martin told a press conference.
“I think he knows he has a chance to express himself and come in and show everyone what a good goalkeeper he is.
“I think he has been frustrated over the last year at the lack of playing time, but he brings winning mentality, big character, big voice.
“We’re quite a quiet group because we’re a young group, so I think he brings experience, attitude, winning mentality."
