WANDERERS have been handed a prime draw against Premier League giants Arsenal in the Carabao Cup third round.
Ian Evatt’s side have beaten Mansfield Town and Shrewsbury Town to make it to this stage of the competition for the first time since 2017 and have been given their reward with a money-spinning tie at the Emirates Stadium.
Wanderers have not played at Arsenal since 2011 when they faced Arsene Wenger’s Gunners in the Carling Cup and lost 2-1 with Andre Arshavin and Park Chu Yong cancelling out a goal from Fabrice Muamba.
Bolton have not won on Arsenal territory in 15 visits, last claiming victory in the FA Cup in 1994 with goals from John McGinlay, Jason McAteer and Andy Walker.
Mikel Arteta’s team joins the competition at this stage thanks to their qualification for the Champions League, which also means the tie against Wanderers is expected to be played in the week commencing September 23.
The exact date and ticket details will be confirmed by the club in due course.
