Daisy Hill will be looking to build on two good performances in the past week when they travel to face Ashton Athletic in the North West Counties League First Division North on Saturday (3pm).
After a stoppage-time goal led to a last-gasp defeat against Holker Old Boys last Saturday, a hard-fought draw against Droylsden followed on Monday.
And Daisy’s vice-captain, Dean Singleton, believes if performance levels can be maintained, the next few weeks offer good opportunities to collect more league points.
“We have three games coming up now against teams around or below us in the table, and if we can take seven or even nine points from those games, that will be a good result for us,” said Singleton.
“If we can take the energy and application we showed in the last two games against Holker Old Boys and Droylsden - both of whom are near the top of the table - into the next three games, we have a real chance of picking up wins and people won’t be underestimating Daisy Hill any more.
“The boys in the group all feel confident we can score goals, and the last two games have proved we can keep it solid at the back against the top teams and not concede many goals either.
“Looking at Saturday’s game, Ashton Athletic have had some mixed results, but I don’t believe we should be getting too involved in what they are doing in their camp.
“I think we should keep it more about us, focus on our game, and put in the type of performance that we have put on in the previous two games.
“If we do that, we have a real chance of picking up the three points.”
