Ian Evatt hopes Aaron Morley can thrive while on loan at Wycombe and return to Wanderers stronger.

The 24-year-old made his debut for the Chairboys in a 2-0 win against Rotherham on Saturday afternoon, coming off the bench seven minutes into the second half.

Evatt knows what the former Rochdale man is capable of and hopes he can find some “rhythm” at Adams Park.

The Wanderers boss insists it is not the end for Morley at Bolton and plans to “re-evaluate” the situation in a few months’ time.

“Aaron has only started one league game in a long time so it is important he finds himself again, I think he has lost his way a little bit,” he told The Bolton News.

“We know he is a brilliant player and we know what he can do, we just need him to gain some rhythm and confidence again.

“It is not the exit door, it is not ‘Goodbye Aaron Morley’. It is go and get some games, find yourself again and we can re-evaluate it in January.”

Evatt also revealed that Josh Dacres-Cogley came off at half time against Charlton as a precaution after taking a bang to the knee.

Victor Adeboyejo also replaced Dion Charles at the break as the Bolton chief looked for more physicality in the final third.

“I thought Dion wasn’t himself first half,” Evatt explained. “We felt like we needed more of a hold-up player and some physical presence on the last line.

“I thought the two 10s were getting into some good positions on the half turn and causing them problems, so we decided to change it.

“That is football, and Josh had a slight bang on his knee so we didn’t want to take the risk with him.”
