Wanderers' unbeaten start came to an end at Charlton, but how did we rate the players on the day?
NATHAN BAXTER…6.5
Couldn’t do much with either goal and made a good save with his legs to deny Docherty a second. A moment of worry when he went down injured in the second half, although Luke Southwood was on the bench.
JOSH DACRES-COGLEY…6
Did a decent job defensively before coming off at half time with a knock, but didn’t have much of an impact going forward.
EOIN TOAL…6
Often tried to bring the ball out of defence as Wanderers dominated possession, but his passes sometimes let him down. Won his fair share of headers throughout the contest.
RICARDO SANTOS…5.
Made a big error for the opening goal, losing possession cheaply on the edge of the Bolton box. Made some decent contributions as the game went on.
GEORGE JOHNSTON…6.5
Good to see the defender getting more minutes under his belt after a long injury layoff. Played a few good passes as Bolton tried to break down Charlton’s low block.
SZABI SCHON…6.5
Got into some dangerous areas but couldn’t quite find the final pass or shot, which summed up Wanderers’ afternoon.
GEORGE THOMASON…6.5
Tried to make things happen and delivered a couple of decent crosses in the first half, but it wasn’t dropping for the Whites.
JOSH SHEEHAN…6
Tidy in possession as always and didn’t give the ball away much, but failed to impact the game in the way he would have hoped. Perhaps still adjusting to his slightly different role in the team this season.
JOHN McATEE…6
Looked bright in the opening stages but struggled to make his mark when Charlton sat deeper after the opening goal. Still early days in his Bolton career and will improve with each game.
DION CHARLES…6
Didn’t have many opportunities to trouble the goalkeeper but saw a decent effort saved in the first half after reacting quickly to get his shot away. Was sacrificed at the break in search of more physicality up front.
AARON COLLINS…6.5
Looked lively in the first half and caused the hosts problems with his quick feet, but failed to kick on after the break.
Subs
JORDI OSEI-TUTU…6
A few encouraging moments going forward but is still building up his sharpness after joining fairly late in the window.
VICTOR ADEBOYEJO…6
Showed glimpses of how effective his hold-up play can be but wasn’t able to sustain that threat as the second half went on.
