Wanderers have no new injury concerns for their trip to Charlton this weekend and other players have continued to make positive progress.

Luke Southwood, Chris Forino, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Jay Matete, Aaron Morley and Kyle Dempsey all got minutes under their belt for the B Team against Notts County on Tuesday afternoon.

Dan Nlundulu was not involved while the club managed his load, but the forward should be back to full fitness next week.

Carlos Mendes Gomes is also “ahead of schedule” as he continues his rehabilitation from a ruptured Achilles, although the versatile attacker is still two to three months away from stepping up his recovery.

“The squad from Sunday is still in one piece, that is a good sign,” said Ian Evatt.

“There are no new (injuries) and some people are closer to being back to full speed, which is good, but no new ones back for this weekend.

“It was positive that we were able to use those lads in the B Team and get out of it what we needed to.

“They are getting back to where we need them to be. Jay, in particular, his physical data has been really pleasing in the last couple of games so he is not a million miles away now.

“It is great we have got these extra cup games to be able to get these lads up to full speed. Probably post the international break, everyone will be on a level playing field and ready to kick on.”

The games are starting to come thick and fast, with a trip to Shrewsbury Town in the Carabao Cup second round on the agenda after Saturday’s league clash at the Valley.

“Every week at this football club is a big week,” Evatt smiled. “I think it is going to be a really tough game on Saturday, they have recruited well.

“Nathan (Jones) has been backed in the transfer market and I think they will be in and around the top six this season. It’s a tough challenge but one we are looking forward to.

“I thought Sunday (against Wrexham), although we didn’t get the win, was a step forward from our performances in the previous games. In those games where teams make it difficult for you, it is hard to break them down.

“You create big moments but you are not going to create loads, and you have to take them. We didn’t do that on Sunday.”
