Daisy Hill will be looking to bounce back from two successive defeats when they enter another double header of games in the North West Counties League First Division North in the coming days.
Tomorrow’s trip to league new boys Thornton Cleveleys is followed by a home game against Steeton on Monday night, and Daisy manager Lee Hill is looking for a reaction from his squad following the 3-2 defeat at home to Nelson on Monday after a fine first-half performance saw them two goals ahead at half time.
“The lads were disappointed after Monday, but we have got to take that result and performance and learn from it, and make sure it doesn’t happen again,” said Hill.
“It is still a squad with a lot of new players, and if a similar situation crops up again, we need to make sure we deal with it in a better way.
“We were missing four regular first-team players on Monday night - Morgan Newns, Alex Dodd, Charlie Roberts and Dean Singleton - so considering we were missing those players we gave a good account of ourselves”.
Saturday sees a first time visit to the Gamble Road ground in Thornton Cleveleys, with the home side having joined the league in the summer after being promoted from the West Lancashire League Premier Division as champions.
The Fylde club have had a mixed start to their season, with two defeats being followed by two wins, the latest being an eye catching 4-3 victory at Darwen on Wednesday night, and Hill is wary of the threat posed by a club who won their league in impressive style last season, when they pipped CMB to finish in top spot on the final day.
“It’s a different type of challenge for us, compared to the other games we have had so far”, said Hill.
“They have come into the league with a lot of knowledge behind them, they have been a strong side in the West Lancashire League, and are in this league for a reason.
“We had them watched when they played at Darwen on Wednesday night and it’s going to be another tough test and not a game we will take lightly.
“We made a few changes on Monday against Nelson that weren’t necessarily performance based, it’s horses for courses depending on who we are playing and who was available, but we have a full squad to choose from for the next two games.”
