Brentford boss Thomas Frank has hinted Paris Maghoma could be part of his plans for the coming season and beyond.

The midfielder impressed while on loan at Wanderers last term, winning the club’s Young Player of the Year prize.

Maghoma scored nine goals in 50 appearances for the Whites but limped off with an ankle issue during the play-off final against Oxford at Wembley.

The 23-year-old has been attracting interest, although his pre-season preparations have been disrupted by the injury.

Ian Evatt confirmed earlier this summer that Wanderers had not made an approach to bring him back to the Toughsheet Community Stadium despite social media rumours, and that it would not be possible after missing out on promotion.

Frank was asked about Maghoma after the 1-1 draw against Watford at the weekend. He told Hounslow Herald: "He can be (useful) for this season and for the future.

"He's had some great loans. His abilities on the ball are something that we need in the team. He's tight on the ball and (plays) some good passes forward."

Last week, Brentford announced Maghoma had put pen to paper over a new three-year contract at the club.

“I’m very happy that Paris has signed a new contract,” Frank told the club site. “He has been with the club for quite a while and I’ve always liked him as a player.

"He has the technical ability and all the key attributes that you need in the modern game.

“His ability to turn forward, drive forward, pass forward and get out of tricky situations is fantastic. Now, it’s on him and us to push forward.

“He’s developed and matured as a player and a person over these last years with some great loan opportunities in the Football League, so it’s looking promising for him.”

Brentford are aiming to build on their 16th-place finish in the Premier League last season. The Bees kick off the new campaign with a home fixture against Crystal Palace on Sunday, August 18.
