Former Wanderer Shola Shoretire had to make a “tough decision” as he embarks on a new challenge in Greece.
Shoretire has signed for PAOK on a free transfer following a long association with Manchester United, having progressed through the youth ranks at Old Trafford.
His journey included a loan spell with the Whites during the second half of the 2022/23 campaign, playing 16 times and scoring against Bristol Rovers on the final day of the regular season.
Shoretire made five senior appearances at Old Trafford, including cameos in the Premier League, Champions League and Europa League.
The 20-year-old impressed in Premier League 2 last term, getting seven goals and four assists before suffering an injury.
He also bagged a brace in a 4-3 defeat against Salford in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy last October.
Shoretire is now hoping to make his mark in the Greek Super League as PAOK aim to defend their title.
He wrote on social media: “I joined Manchester United as an 11 year old boy with a dream of one day playing in the first team.
“I feel extremely proud to be able to say I have achieved that dream. To make it even more special, I was given the opportunity to represent the club in the Premier League and in Europe.
“I’ll forever be grateful to the many players, staff members and supporters who have played a massive part in my journey to this point.
“From the first day I arrived at the training ground, I have felt at home and part of the family.
“It’s been a tough decision for me to leave somewhere that’s been all I’ve known for half of my life but I believe this is the right step for me.”
